Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Zayed Receives S. Korean FM Kim Sung-hwan
Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed receives on Feb.6 at the Al-Mina Palace in Abu Dhabi, South Korea's Minister of Foreign Affairs Kim Sung-hwan.

General His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces received on Feb.6 at the Al-Mina Palace in Abu Dhabi, South Korea's Minister of Foreign Affairs Kim Sung-hwan, who is currently on a visit to the country.

Welcoming the minister and the delegation accompanying him, the Crown Prince noted the development of bilateral relations between the UAE and S. Korea serving the common interest of both countries and their peoples.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan hailed the keenness of Korean President Lee Myung-bak on the development of relations with the UAE and looked forward to the upcoming visit of Korean President to the UAE. He hoped that the visit will bolster and expand cooperation between the two countries and create more opportunities for joint cooperation.

For his part, the Korean Foreign Minister expressed his happiness over the visit to the UAE and conveyed the greetings of S.Korean President to President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and the Crown Prince. He also wished the UAE further progress and prosperity.

The Korean Minister thanked the UAE for its efforts in the case of South Korean ship which was detained by pirates.

Sheikh Mohammed stressed the importance of concerted regional and international efforts to bring peace and security of shipping and navigation in the region, pointing out in this context the importance of the forthcoming conference which will be held in Dubai between 17 and 19 April this year on the "regional response towards a joint approach against maritime piracy."

The Minister said that his country looks forward to participating in this conference and expressed gratitude to the UAE for hosting a military unit of Korea's elite troops in the Al Ain city for the purposes of training and exchange of experiences.

During the meeting, they discussed bilateral relations between the two friendly countries and ways to support and strengthen them. They also exchanged views on a range of issues of common concern.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the Crown Prince asked the minister to convey to the Korean President greetings from Sheikh Khalifa and from himself.

The meeting was attended by Mohammed Mubarak Al Mazrouei, Undersecretary at the Diwan of the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Kwon Tae-Kyun, the Korean Ambassador to the UAE.
