Ambassador's Message
St. Patrick's Day "Global Greening" 2015!
Irish Ambassador to S. Korea Aingeal O’Donoghue

Dear All,

Greetings from the Embassy, You may recall from last year that there was the greening of Seoul N Tower and we are hoping that again this year we will have a greening of one of the iconic buildings in Seoul.

The Embassy would like you to draw your attention to a new initiative which aims to encourage friends of Ireland across the world to ‘go green’ this St. Patrick’s Day in as many, creative ways as possible. With less than a month to go to St. Patrick’s Day, Tourism Ireland want to encourage people and businesses to participate in the Global Greening by greening their workplaces, webpages, logos etc.

A video — http://youtu.be/02bosK7TIho — has been developed by Tourism Ireland to explain the concept. There is also the dedicated page on the Tourism Ireland website for anyone who needs more information:

http://www.tourismireland.com/gogreen4patricksday

What is unique about this initiative is that it includes the private sector and can involve any aspect of greening not just lighting buildings.

If any of the Irish community or indeed friends of the Irish community in Korea are in a position to take this idea forward in your workplaces or businesses whether it be in the classroom or the office, we would be delighted to hear about.

You could create a special event or occasion to introduce your Korean colleagues to Ireland and St Patrick ’s Day – Next thing you’ll know, they’ll want to come and experience Ireland for themselves.

So, make 2015 the year you join our ‘Global Greening’. If you are holding a St. Patrick ’s Day celebration or greening event in your office, classroom, school or workplace, we at the Embassy would love to hear about it!

Post your photographs and videos on twitter and tag @IrishEmbKorea along with using the #GoGreen4PatricksDay Looking forward to seeing Korea go green over the St Patricks day period!

Best regards,

Aingeal O’Donoghue
Ambassador
