Italian Techno DJ to Perform in Apkujong-dong
FRESHTECHNO.com Hosts Its First Event Dec. 4
By Mark Basquille
Irish Correspondent
Davide Squillace in TECHNOSCOPE concept, Amsterdam

FRESHTECHNO.com is a multinational company based in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, Naples, Italy and now also in Seoul, Korea. Their main activities include organizing outdoor/indoor techno parties, label/booking management for international artists, and running an online portal with streaming audio/video, pictures, forum, and much more.

On the 4th of December, 2004, FRESHTECHNO.com will host their first event in Seoul, marking the start of a new beginning for the Korean club scene.

Davide Squillace, one of the most requested Italian techno dj's in the world, will be flown in from Italy to showcase his three turntable mixing technique this weekend at club SPIN in Apkujong-dong, supported by some of the best local dj's; Frankie Shin, Diong, Jal, Dylan, Ultradog & Mo'Virus.

It's not that often that a world famous techno dj arrives in Seoul, but FRESHTECHNO.com is striving to change that. 02pro is responsible for creating the techno scene that currently exists in Seoul, as they were the first event production company that flew in world famous techno artists from around the world to perform at their events. Without 02pro, FRESHTECHNO.com would have a much bigger challenge to face in producing this event.

Davide Squillace was born in Siena, central Italy, in 1977. Immediately after his birth, his family went back to their home town, restoring Davide to his own genuine background. The fermenting Partenopean culture particularly marked Davide's personality, whose sensitiveness — some call it "feminine" — has always been displayed by his production's qualities.

Fancying to dance in the beginning, Davide got in touch with electronic music in 1995, discovering his passion for the innovative sonorities which began to be peculiar to the techno scene of those years. At that time, Davide already had a definite musical taste, ranging from the German and American electro to experimental music and house music, as well as from soul to jazz and hip hop.

Davide Squillace started his musical career in London, where he also published his first record on England's leading techno label, PRIMATE. Soon after his first release, his talent was noticed by AUDIO and CONTRAST, that immediately signed him and published some of his later EP's.

In 1999 he went back to Naples, Italy, where he attended the school of Sound Engineering, graduating after two years. His high quality technical knowledge allowed his talent to fully express itself, and to bring out unquestionable quality works in the years to follow.

At that time Davide produced records for the world famous labels such as DESIGN & CONFORM, but not being able to put up with the filters that the labels placed on his sonorities, he decided to set up his own SKETCH label, to finally be free to re-create his own tastes. His trademark 3 turntable dj style has also turned him into one of the most influential dj's in the European scene, and he has performed at some of the best club/festivals around the world.

Davide regularly performs side by side with artists such as Jeff Mills, Richie Hawtin, The Advent, Dave Clarke, Rino Cerrone, Marco Carola, Joey Beltram, just to name a few. Expect an amazing set from this spectacular Italian artist on 4 December at club SPIN.

SPIN is located in Apkujong-dong, near ‘Cine City' and across the street from ‘Rock'N'Roll.' For more information on how to get to the club, email SPIN@FRESHTECHNO.COM WWW.FRESHTECHNO.COM
