S. Korea to Build "FoodPolis" for Food Export
"Korea National Food Cluster" to Be Completed in 2016
Minister Lee Dong-Pil of South Korea's Ministry of Agriculture, Food, and Rural Affairs

Minister Lee Dong-Pil of South Korea's Ministry of Agriculture, Food, and Rural Affairs will invite a host of local journalists for the presentation of the stae-led project for "Korea National Food Cluster" or so-called "FoodPolis" at a hotel in Seoul on Oct. 28 (Wednesday), 2015.

The event will be held between 10:30 a.m and 1:10 p.m. on the day at Orchid Hall of the Plaza Hotel in front of Seoul City Hall in Seoul.

During the presentation Mr. Lee Joo-Myung of the ministry's Food Industry Policy Bureau and Dr. Kwon Dae-Young of the Korea Food Research Institute will give lectures, respectively.

The title of Dr. Kwon's lecture will be "The Global Competitiveness of Korea National Food Cluster."

Prior to the lectures the invited press gallery members will be briefed on the "Korea National Food Cluster" project, which was initiated in 2008.

In particular, "Korea National Food Cluster"'s latest developments and its future vision will be introduced to the loal media men and women.

The presentation will be held under the title of "Korea National Food Cluster, Dreams of Becoming Korean Silicon Valley," according to the news release of Communications Korea (CK), the PR agency for promoting the national food cluster project.

Interpretation service between English and Korean languages will be provided, according to CK.

The CK news release says that the South Korean government has been promoting "Korea National Food Cluster (FoodPolis)" business as the export-oriented food industrial complex since 2008.

The release continues to say that the government regards food industry as the new growth engine, which will lead the future of Korea's agriculture in this global competition era.

According to CK release, the ground-breaking ceremony for the "Korea National Food Cluster (FoodPolis)" was held in Iksan City, North Jeolla Province on Nov. 24, 2014 with the current president in attendance.

For this national initiative the Agency for Korea National Food Cluster was formed in 2007 within the ministry.

The construction of industrial complex and support centers will be completed by 2016. The construction of this "FoodPolis" will be the cornerstone of boosting Korea's agriculture and food industry to next level.

Once "FoodPolis" is completed the South Korean government will offer full support to both domestic and international food companies within the complex of "Korea National Food Cluster" for their global dompetative edge particularly in Northeast Asian market.
