Dutch Amb. Vollenhoven Member of Screening Jury
Special Contribution
By Dutch Embassy in Seoul
Dutch Ambassador to Seoul Radinck J. van Vollenhoven

The Dutch Business Club in Korea (DBCK) and the Royal Netherlands Embassy hosted the Hamel Trade Award 2005 for excellent performance in the Korean market. The winners were Inalfa Roof Systems and Irdeto.

The jury of the Hamel Trade Award 2005 consisted of Mr. Alan Timblik of Invest Korea, Mr. Frans Hampsink of the EUCCK, Mr. Garry Pieters of the Dutch Business Club in Korea and H.E. Radinck J. van Vollenhoven, Ambassador of the Netherlands. They granted the Hamel Trade Award 2005, for the company that is already well established in the South Korean market, to Inalfa Roof Systems.

The Hamel Trade Award 2005 for the company that recently entered the South Korean market goes to Irdeto.

Both companies contributed significantly to bilateral trade between the Netherlands and South Korea.

Inalfa Roof Systems (www.inalfa-roofsystems.com) is the world's second biggest provider of vehicle roof systems. Inalfa develops and assembles innovative car and truck roof systems for almost all vehicle manufacturers. Inalfa established a facility in South Korea in 1995 and is the exclusive sunroof supplier to GM-Daewoo. Alongside GM-Daewoo, several roof systems are assembled here for Ssangyong and Renault-Samsung in Korea, Shanghai-GM, Chery and Hafei in China.

Irdeto (www.irdeto.com) specialises in designing, developing, and marketing end-to-end solutions to manage and protect content from unauthorised access in the television broadcast, mobile and broadband environments. In South Korea Irdeto is providing the world's first mobile security solution for Korean S-DMB (Satellite Digital Multimedia Broadcasting) service launched in May 2005. This basically means that for Irdeto, about 200.000 Koreans can currently watch live television on their mobile phones.

The awards will be handed over by the State Secretary of Finance, Mr. Joop Wijn, at a ceremony at ING House in Amsterdam, the Netherlands on 14 November. H.E. Radinck J. van Vollenhoven and H.E. Ohm Keun-seop, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea in the Netherlands was present. Please visit www.evd/deshima for further information on the awards ceremony.

The Royal Netherlands Embassy launched the Hamel Trade Award in 2003. It's an award for excellence to a company that contributed substantially to business and trade relations between South Korea and the Netherlands. The first Hamel Trade Award was presented to ASML (the world's leading provider of lithography systems for the semiconductor industry) by the Netherlands Minister for Trade and Mr. Guus Hiddink during their joint visit to Korea in 2003. The Hamel Trade Award in 2004 was awarded to LG.Philips LCD, because it is one of the most successful joint ventures in South Korea and contributed significantly to bilateral trade relations between the Netherlands and South Korea.
