Romanian Film Festival Runs Dec. 1 to Dec. 3
Scores of Foreign Envoys, Locals Attend Its Opening

Romanian Embassy in Seoul is hosting the Romanian Film Festival at the Korea Film Council (KOFIC) in Cheongyangni-dong, Dongdaemun-gu, eastern Seoul.

"Last Crusade"— a history action movie (18:00 hrs), "The Immortals," — a history action (16:00 hrs), "Adela,"— love story movie (18:00 hrs), will be shown during the festival perios of Dec. 1 through Dec. 3, 2005.

On the opening day, Romanian Ambassador to Seoul Valeriu Arteni and his wife Maria Arteni hosted a reception at the Korean Film Council building.

Both local and foreign residents were invited to the "Opening Reception-Gala" held between 6 p.m.and 8 p.m. on Thursday Dec. 1, 2005 on the basement floor hall of the Korea Film Council (KOFIC).

Among the top foreign envoys invited were Thai Ambassador to Seoul Vasin Teeravechyan, Hungarian Ambassador to Seoul Istvan Torzsa, Sudanese Ambassador to Seoul Babiker Ali Khalifa, and Nigerian Ambassador to Seoul Abba A. Tijjani.

The following are the film schedules and contents of the films including its synopsis.

December 1:
Last Crusade – History action movie (18:00 hrs)

December 2:
The Immortals- History action (16:00 hrs)
Adela – Love Story movie (18:00 hrs)

The Last Crusade

1970-Historical Epic
Running Time: 120 minutes
Directed by: Sergiu Nicolaescu
Starring Amza Pellea, Florin Pcrsic, Irina Gardescu, Olga Tudorache, Collea Rautu, Mircca A lbulcscu, Nicolaescu, Gyorgy Kovacs

Synopsis: This Romanian historical epic chronicles the efforts Prince Michael to unify the Romanian provinces during the Middle Age. It shows his struggles and battles on a grand scale underling the pride of a free nation and the glory of Romanian determination to stand against any occupation attempt. It is believed that this was one of the largest,
Most complex and most expensive films to be made in Romania in its time. The movie, featuring one of the most prestigious and military commanders, with its consistently fast-paced action, was very well received. The original epic was in tow parts and was over four hours long. This version is about tow hours long.

The Immortals

1974- Historical/Action
Running Time: 116 min
Directed by: Sergiu Nicolacscu
Starring: Sergiu Nicolaescu, Amza Pellea, Ilarion Ciobanu

Synopsis: It's the story of a few men that wonde across Europe trying to come home and rebuild what Mihai Vieazul called "Romanian dream" Ten years after the death of the great Romanian lord Mihai (1611) some of his worriers take his battle flag from Austria and bring it back home. They were attacked by powerful Turkish Army, but they did not give up their struggle, defying the enemy and managing to put the flag on the top of the highest tower of one of the Romanian castles. They showed to the Turkish commander bravery, courage and determination to fight and preserve the country's ideals of liberty and freedom of choice.

Adela

1985-Romantic Drama
Running Time: 85 minutes
Directed by: Mircea Veroiu
Starring: George Motoi, Marina Procopie, Florina Luican, Stefan Sileanu

Synopsis: Set in 1899, this poetic, visually evocative period drama is a story about one man's acceptance of middle age in the face a longing for a younger companion. Dr. Codrescu (George Motoi) arrives in a town he used to know well and makes the acquaintance of Adela (Marina Procopie), a winsome young divorce who had been a child the last time he saw her. Codrescu is over 40, and although he has several chances to approach Adela with romance as an objective, he backs down each time. Meanwhile, his good friend Tuliu Dragon (Stefan Sileanu) is around to keep him company – they were buddies in the army together. To complicate matters, Dragon has an on-going relationship with Adeal's attractive mother. This drama won the Grand Prix at the 1985 San Remo Film Festival.
