EUCCK Reinforces Support to EU Companies
Slew of Services to Help Them Do Business Effectively

Mr. Jean-Jacques Grauhar, Secretary General, EUCCK

The European Union Chamber of Commerce in Korea (EUCCK, www.eucck.org) is pleased to inform you that the HR Committee is providing a slew of services for EU companies to assist them in doing effective business in the country.

The services seek to help the companies to cope with HR-related business problems which have been gaining prominence recently.

Among the new services that have been introduced is the "HR Daily News Service" – the first of its kind by any foreign organization. The Committee sends out customized and relevant information on the activities of the Ministry of Labor; issues and strike schedule of the two big trade unions - Korean Confederation of Trade Unions/Federation of Korean Trade Union; latest research and statistics from research organizations and recent HR news (employment, HR development) from both Korea and abroad.

Currently the service is limited to members, but soon through webpage it can be accessed by other foreign companies doing business in Korea.

Commenting on the HR Committee activities, Mr. Jean-Jacques Grauhar, Secretary General, EUCCK, said: "The services that are provided are intended to assist foreign companies and set a sound business environment so that more FDI flows into the country. Korea-EU economic cooperation has become increasingly important with the EU companies recording the highest level of FDI in Korea."

He noted that EUCCK has plans to strengthen the HR committee this year and has already organized meetings with labor unions, having invited Mr. Jo Jun-Oh, President of KCTU (Korean Confederation of Trade Unions) for breakfast meeting with EUCCK members on May 3rd.

The European Union Chamber of Commerce in Korea, a non-profit organization, is made up of around 800 members from the EU, local as well as overseas business community. It is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year. The purpose of the Chamber is to help in any possible way to develop trade, commercial and industrial relations between the EU and Korea. It paves the way for and fosters contacts between interested business circles of the 25 EU member states and the Korean peninsula.
