SPG Named "Program of Year in Asia Pacific"

The Westin Chosun in Seoul

Starwood Preferred Guest has been named, "Program of the Year in Asia Pacific" at the 18th Annual Freddie awards, one of the most prestigious honors in the travel industry. SPG also received top honors for Best Bonus Promotion, Best Award Redemption and Best Customer Service.

On the heels of celebrating its seventh anniversary, Starwood Preferred Guest first made headlines when it launched in 1999 with a breakthrough policy of no blackout dates and no capacity controls, meaning members can redeem free nights anytime, anywhere.

It allowed members to redeem awards at more resorts, luxury properties, European hotels and golf properties than any other hotel programs. This proved to be a big draw for the world's most frequent travelers and a significant competitive advantage. SPG members highly credit the program's hassle-free award redemption, outstanding customer service, dedicated member website and innovative promotions and benefits for elite members.

The Freddie Awards is considered the equivalent to the Oscar and Emmy Awards. It recognizes the best loyalty programs in the world, and the awards are voted on by frequent travelers via Insideflyer magazine and an Internet survey, giving them the opportunity to voice their opinions on favorite airlines, hotels and credit card loyalty programs. The Freddie Awards have grown prominently over the past 18 years and is regarded as the most prestigious consumer-generated travel awards in the industry.
