EUCCK Names Nokia Chief IT Committee Head
Dr. Uchoon Kang, President of NOKIA Korea

The European Union Chamber of Commerce in Korea (EUCCK, www.eucck.org) is pleased to announce the nomination of Dr. Uchoon Kang, President of NOKIA Korea as the Chairman of the IT & Telecom Committee. His appointment took effect on Wednesday, October 18th, 2006.

Dr. Kang has close to 25 years experience in the sectors having previously worked in Motorola Korea Inc., AT&T Korea, LG Information and Communications, AT&T Bell Laboratories and Systems Control Technology.

Given his rich experience, Dr. Kang is a valuable asset to the IT & Telecom committee, and under his leadership, the EUCCK expects enhanced cooperation between EU and Korea in this sector.

The main objective of the IT & Telecom Committee is to address important common issues faced by European companies in Korea. It also has been regularly holding discussions with government officials, IT agencies and institutions in Korea to promote bilateral cooperation in the sector.

For that matter, the EUCCK has signed a historic MOU with MIC on Feb. 9, 2006 to enhance continual cooperation in the IT-Telecommunication field. The MOU seeks to improve cooperation between European and Korean SMEs in the area of IT-Telecommunications and to promote scientific R&D partnership between European and Korean companies.

Mr. Jean-Jacques Grauhar, Secretary General, EUCCK, welcomed the nomination of Dr. Kang and said: "We look forward to the further development of the EUCCK IT & Telecom Committee under the able leadership of Dr. Kang."
