Col. Giovanni De Roma Visits Seoul Dec. 12-14
Italian Police Delegation of Guardia di Finanza in Korea
Col. Giovanni De Roma (center) meets with local people in Seoul.

On De. 12 to Dec. 14, 2006, a high-ranking officer of the Italian "Guardia di Finanza," Col. Giovanni De Roma, visited South Korea.

"Guardia di Finanza" is the Italian police body which is specialized in the fight against all forms of economic crimes: counterfeiting, smuggling, tax evasion, fraud, financing of terrorism, etc. Guardia di Finanza has posted one of its officers, Col. De Roma, at the Italian Consulate in Shangai: his task is to foster cooperation between Italian police authorities and Chinese and Korean police and customs authorities in the fight against all economic crimes.

In this context, Col. De Roma paid a visit to South Korea and had meetings in Seoul and Daejon with the Korean National Police Agency, Korean Intellectual Property Office and Korean Customs Service.

The meetings were extremely successful and paved the way to a further enhancement of bilateral cooperation and exchange of best practices and information between Italian and Korean Authorities.

The visit of Col. De Roma and the significant results of his talks are a vivid proof of the priority given by the Italian Government to the fight against counterfeiting, smuggling and all forms of economic crimes.
