Oil for well-being
Canadian Canola Oil Seminar on March 8-9
No Trans Fat & Cholesterol, Rich in Omega-3 Fatty Acid
Canadian Canola Oil Seminar in Seoul

The Canadian Embassy in Seoul will hold Canadian Canola Oil Seminars on March 8-9, 2007 at the Lotte Hotel (Sogong-Dong). Canola oil was recently granted a U.S. Food and Drug Administration (USFDA) qualified health claim on its ability to reduce the risk of coronary heart disease (CHD). Canadian canola experts, Dr. Bruce McDonald and Dr. Linda Malcolmson, will make presentations on the Health and Cooking Benefits of Canola Oil.

Canola oil has no trans fat, no cholesterol and less saturated fat than other edible oils. This make canola oil a healthy alternative to other cooking oils, since eating less trans fat, saturated fat and cholesterol helps to reduce the risk of heart disease. As the incidence of heart disease increases in Korea, it is time to make the switch to canola oil, which promotes health and well being. Many food chains are already using canola oil in their restaurants. Canola oil also has many beneficial health properties. It is rich in monounsaturated fat – a "good" type of fat that helps lower blood pressure, control blood glucose, and reduce heart disease. Canola oil is also an important source of essential omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids, which are needed to maintain healthy skin and eye sight. People who eat diets rich in essential fatty acids also have a lower risk of strokes and heart attacks.

Moreover, canola oil is easy to use and tastes great. Canola oil is light, clear and brings the subtle tastes of food into focus to tantalize your taste buds. Canola oil's high smoke point is also ideal for deep frying, and offers a lot more flexibility than other types of oils. For example, it can be used to enhance the delicate taste of baking, or in creating rich, vibrant sauces.
