CNN Launches First Health Show
Dr. Sanjay Gupta, CNN's chief medical correspondent

Reaching out to viewers to help them enrich their lives through mind, body and spirit, the launch of CNN's first health show explores health, well-being and vitality. Hosted by CNN's chief medical correspondent Dr. Sanjay Gupta, CNN PROJECT LIFE introduces viewers to professionals and industry specialists who find ways to successfully manage stress and live healthy, productive lives.

The first program looks at Sri Sri Ravi Shankar's Art of Living Foundation in Bangalore which helps disaster victims around the world. Sri Sri Ravi Shankar is the man who developed the U.N.'s Universal Declaration of Human Values In Bangalore, Dr. Gupta visits Sri Sri Ravi Shankar's ashram along with students from around the world to hear his teachings and learn how to apply them to our busy and stressful lives.

CNN PROJECT LIFE also explores Ultra Running where athletes run circles around regular marathoners. In New York, more than 50 runners will gather for the 12th annual 10 Day Self-Transcendence Race. The race goes around the clock for 240 hours. Some runners run an average of 20 hours a day. The record holder ran a total of 901 miles. It's the ultimate test of physical, mental and spiritual stamina. The event is hosted by meditation guru Sri Chinmoy.

The second program sees veteran war correspondent Michael Holmes get a revealing new assignment. Unlike what Holmes is used to – usually the latest political hotspot or civil uprising, for this story, CNN PROJECT LIFE put the spotlight on Holmes — and his health. He travels to the Canyon Ranch spa in Tucson, Arizona for the human equivalent of 100,000 mile check up.

Many people are taking "career breaks" to re-energize their careers and spirit and CNN PROJECT LIFE catches up with a group of friends who left their posh New York City jobs to travel the world. Calling themselves the Lost Girls, CNN PROJECT LIFE sees what they have found on the road on the last stop before they head home.

In addition to the program, an online component supports CNN PROJECT LIFE (www.cnn.com/projectlife) and features user-generated photo galleries, health tips, quizzes and checklists of practical tips and information including a daily blog chronicling the fitness journey of a CNN staff writer. The show is also available on the site in two streaming segments.
