RP Sees Visitor Arrivals Grew by 11.7% in Feb
The Korean market still contributed the biggest arrivals in February 2008 by supplying 56,832 visitors with a share of 20.5% to total.

Visitor arrivals grew by 11.7% in February 2008 as it reached 276,809 visitors compared to the 247,731 arrivals in February 2007.

On the other hand, the first two months of 2008 generated 570,612 arrivals, growing by 9.7% compared to the 520,256 visitors for the same months in 2007.

The Korean market still contributed the biggest arrivals in February 2008 by supplying 56,832 visitors with a share of 20.5% to total visitor traffic and registering a growth of 14.6% versus its arrivals of 49,579 the previous year.

The U.S. market came in second by providing 50,372 visitors and shared 18.2% to total inbound volume.

This market grew by 9.4% against its arrivals of 46,036 in 2007. Arrivals from Japan reached 31,469, constituting 11.4% of the total visitor volume. It recorded a decline of 4.8% vis-à-vis its arrivals of 33,053 the previous year. Arrivals from China were fourth, supplying 22,446 arrivals for a share of 8.1% to the total volume.

It recorded an increase of 45.3% versus the 15,445 arrivals it contributed a year ago. Visitors from Taiwan shared the fifth biggest arrivals at 4.7% of the total inbound volume. A total of 13,148 came from this country versus its arrivals of 13,542 in 2007 which recorded a decline of 2.9%.

Substantial contributions were likewise supplied by Hong Kong with 12,955 arrivals which grew by 7.5%, Australia with 8,861 arrivals with growth of 19.3%, Singapore with 8,153 arrivals and growth of 9.9%, Canada with 7,963 arrivals and growth of 28.9%, and United Kingdom with 6,340 arrivals, increasing by 20.4%.

On the other hand, countries from Scandinavia reflected double-digit growth rates namely: Finland with 47.4% growth (339 arrivals), Sweden with 37.7% growth (1,805 arrivals) and Norway with 36.5% growth (1,426 arrivals while Denmark with 1,478 arrivals recorded a growth of 1.4%.

Two cruise ships arrived in February, with one ship disembarking in Manila South Harbor with a total of 1,628 visitors while the remaining cruise disembarked in Cebu with visitors totaling 302.
