Amb. Schoeman Meets with Local Journalists

South African Ambassador to Seoul Stefanus J. Schoeman and his wife Mrs. Judith Schoeman hosted a "Media Cocktail Reception" at a Seoul hotel on April 17, 2008. The reception drew several journalists from The Seoul Times and the Korea Herald, and other newspapers and magazines.

At the reception Amb. Schoeman said that April is an important month for South Africans. On April 27, 1994 South Africa held its first democratic elections in which all South Africans participated.

He announced that the South African Embassy in Seoul plans to hold a series of business and cultural events in the month of April and in early May. The following are the events in details.

1. An Investment Seminar on April 29, 2008: "South African Natural Resources and Beneficiation thereof." Co-hosted by KORES and KOTRA, this investment seminar will take place at the KOTRA Building from 09h00-17h00. South African companies and Provincial Investment Agencies will showcase investment projects/opportunities in minerals and metals in South Africa.

2. A Culture Design Exhibition at the COEX Mall from April 29 until May 2, 2008. About 15 South Africa companies will exhibit products that cover the following: leather accessories, beading, weaving, home textiles, ceramics, jewelry, fashion accessories, home ware, wire, and grass baskets. A number of Korean companies, importing South African products, will also join the exhibition. We invite everybody to visit this exhibition.

3. A Culture group of musicians and dancers will also perform at the Cultural Design Exhibition at the COEX Mall.

Performances will be: From April 29, 2008 until May 2, 2008.

On May 1, 2008 Cultural Exhibitions will be held on board the Cafe Train. South African Music and Dance group will perform on board the train. People will experience South African talent, artwork, wine, tea, juice and more. The train departs from Yongsan Train Station at 10h30 to Iksan.

4. Freedom Day Celebrations will take place on April 30 at the Lotte Hotel.
