French Minister of State Visits Seoul April 15-16
Dominique Bussereau Meets Top Officials, Politicians
Mr. Dominique Bussereau, French secretary of state for transport

On the occasion of the visit in Korea of Mr. Dominique Bussereau, French Minister of State for Transport Ministry for
Ecology, Energy, Sustainable Development & Special Planning, the French Embassy in Seoul organized a seminar and a press conference at Shilla Hotel on April 16, 2009.

The seminar, which started at Shilla Hotel's Yeongbingwan (Ruby Room) at 9: 30 a.m. on the day, lasted till noon with the participation of Mr. Bussereau and other high-level French officials and businesspeople.

Mr. Bussereau gave a key-note presentation on French port systems, its advantages and its recent reforms. While emphasizing the advantages of its port systems and other distributions and transport systems, he asked for more investment from South Korean businesses into these areas.

While he is in Seoul, Mr. Bussereau is scheduled to meet with Mr. Chung Jong-Hwan, minister of land, transport and maritime affairs and with Mr. Cho Yang-Ho, chairman of Hanjin Business Group and national flag carreir Korea Air. During his visit the Minister will also visit the port of Incheon.

Panel speakers included Mr. Koo Jung-Mo, group head of Hanjin Shipping; Mr. Laurent Castaing, president of Grand Port Maritime du Havre (Port of Le Havre); Mr. Jean-Claude Terrier, president of Grand Port Maritime de Marseille (Port of Marseille); Mr. Herve de Treglode, deputy general director of Reseau Ferre de France (Fance Railways Network); and Mr. Thierry Duclaux, general director of Voies Navigables de France (France Waterways Network).

Opening remark was delivered by Mr. David Appia, president of "Invest in France Agency."

Press conference followed the seminar by high-level French officials. Mr. Dominique Bussereau and other French officials took part in the press conference with the local media.

The question and answer (Q&A) session with the local journalists and a cocktail followed.

Mr. Bussereau will visit Line No. 9 of the subway while the representatives of French companies will visit the port of Incheon west of Seoul.

He is accompanied by a delegation of representatives from French companies. His official visit to Korea is a part of an Asian tour that will bring the minister and his delegation to Hong Kong, Seoul and Shanghai.

Mr. Dominique Bussereau has been minister of state to the Ministry for Ecology, Energy and Sustainable Development and Town and Country Planning, with responsibility for transport since May 18, 2007.

He was previously Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries from 2005 to 2007 and Minister of Agriculture, Food, Fisheries and Rural Affairs from 2004 to 2005.
