Senior Members of The Seoul Times Inivted to Dinner

UAE Ambassador to Korea Abdulla Al-Maainah and his wife Mrs. Aida Al-Maaina hosted a dinner at his official residence in Seoul on April 29, 2009 in honor of senior members of The Seoul Times at his residence in Seoul.

Present at the friendly get together over dinner were Yun Ik-Han, chairman of The Seoul Times and other senior members of the online newspaper including Vice Chairman Park Young-Ho.

All the invited guests felt like as at home thanks to special care and friendly gestures extended by Mr. and Mrs. Ambassador. The dinner with typical UAE cuisine in a cozy atmosphere was really superb.

The party was highlighted when Mr. Ambassador called in a small ceremony to present a letter of appreciation to Chairman Yun Ik-Han to express his thanks for cooperation and support extended to UAE Embassy by the Times in identifying positive steps to further improve bilateral relations between the UAE and South Korea.

Yun served as editor in chief as well as executive vice president the Korea Herald before joining the Times. He is concurrently auditor for the Korea Senior Journalists Association, fraternity of S.Korea's retired newsmen and broadcasters.

Amb.Al-Maainah expressed satisfaction with the UAE's distinguished relations with the Republic of Korea which has been deeply rooted throughout the past years and achieved more progress on the principle of mutual respect and common interests.

He then said that it is crucial time for The Seoul Times to play as bridge in furthering the friendly relations between his country and Korea.

In the meantime, Mrs. Al-Maainah told The Seoul Times that she will participate in the 13th Annual Women's Conference for Peace in the Middle East scheduled for May 16-19, 2009 in Athens, Greece as representative of the United Arab Emirates

She said that it has become clear that women's perspectives and talents are necessary to help redefine national and international priorities and to implement sustainable commitments to goals of peace and justice at this time of global crisis.

"Peace will come from understanding and listening within the family which is the place where we learn to practice love and relate constructively to one another," she pointed out underscoring the importance of the role of mother at home.

She also said that we are arriving at an important transitional era, entering a world on oneness which transcends the barriers of ideologies, the differences between languages and cultures, and racial conflicts.

The history of today is calling for peace, reconciliation, compassion, love, service and sacrifice. It is an age in which the present problems cannot be solved by the masculine logic of power but with love of maternity, she added.
