ADeKo President Lee Ki-Su Hosts Conference
It Was Joined by German Enovy, Famous Scholars

President Lee Ki-Su of a German alumni association in South Korea "ADeKo" has recently hosted a conference at a Seoul hotel.

A number of prominent scholars from the feilds of education, reserach, economy, politics, and news media as well as ADeKo members took part in the one-day conference held on Oct. 21, 2009.

Among the participants were German ambassador to Seoul Dr. Hans-Ulrich Seidt, Ex-President Lee Jin-Woo of Keimyung University, Director Ulf Nehrbass of the Pasteur Institute Korea, POSTECH President Baik Sung-Gi, and Dr. Colin Durkop, resident representative of Konrad-Adenauer Foundation Korea.

The conference was composed of three main topics — freedom of the press and speech in the era of multimedia; the role of science and technology in the globalization process; and economies and financial systems in a time of crisis.

ADeKo President Lee Ki-Su also serves as president of Korea University.

The conference was the first major conference ADeKo has held since its establishment in May 2008.
