Twin Towers in Flame —The Sept. 11 attacks were a series of suicide attacks by al-Qaeda upon the US on Sept. 11, 2001. On that morning, 19 Islamist terrorists affiliated with al-Qaeda hijacked 4 passenger jet airliners.The hijackers intentionally crashed 2 of the airliners into the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center in NYC. 2,974 people died in the attacks.

While the world saw the worst face of terrorism in 9/11, at the same time there is also a big chunk of people including Americans, who see it as the world’s largest criminal conspiracy. The tenure of George W Bush II had been very unfortunate for America because during that period not only the hypothesis of “Clash of Civilizations” gained strength, also it was the period during which the US was known for it heights of notoriety. World will never forget the shameful adieu to George Bush by an Iraqi journalist in the form of Shoe. This “farewell” was repeated by the US citizens in front of the White House. A major view across the world is still that George Bush should be tried for committing war crimes for in unnecessary wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.

Latest controversy regarding 9/11 was triggered by the speech of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmedinejad in the United Nations General Assembly. In his speech, Ahmedinejad charged the US itself for conspiring 9/11 attacks. Representatives of countries like Canada, Australia, New Zealand and Costa Rica left the hall in protest of this charge of Ahmedinejad. Later, the US President Barack Obama did his duty by terming Ahmedinejad’s claim as “hateful”, “offensive” and “inexcusable”. The question is whether an elected President of a democratic country can make such a baseless claim in the victim city itself, that too without any evidence? Even though this charge is made first time by any head of state, in fact this is not the first time that Bush administration is accused of hacking such conspiracy.

The doubt of a conspiracy behind 9/11 was firstly expressed by Americans themselves. Michael Moore in his film Fahrenheit 9/11 has tried to prove that Osama Bin Laden and George Bush had very friendly relations. And that relation provided the base for 9/11 attacks. Apart from this, many films have been made in the US and Europe which tried to present 9/11 as a well-organised conspiracy by the US. Recently, the Cuban leader Fidel Castro in an interaction with a writer said that whenever George Bush wanted to scare common Americans, he used to recite the name of Osama Bin Laden and tell what Laden was going to do. Consequently, horrified American people were distracted. In this way, Laden always helped Bush. Castro even claims that Laden worked under the patronisation of Bush. In support of his arguments, he has referred to the Wiki leaks, the website which leaked America’s secret official documents related to Afghan war. According to Castro, these documents prove that Laden was a CIA agent and worked for the US.

Apart from this, many such books have been published in America itself which have tried to unravel the conspiracy behind 9/11 and have also opposed the government declaration by the Bush administration which said that 9/11 terror attack were planned and executed by the Arab Muslims linked to Al Qaeda. According to a poll conducted by America-based institute Zogby International, two-third Americans wanted investigation against George Bush and Dick Cheney whereas thirty percent favoured their declaration as criminals by the House of Representatives. A group of 1250 architects and engineers of New York has also called for a detailed investigation of 9/11 attacks. These people believe that the way the planes hit the twin towers and subsequent collapse of buildings seem a very well-planned and well-controlled activity. Many people claim that huge amount of explosives and dynamites were filled in the WTC before 9/11. Another claim is that not only the plane hit the tower, besides a missile was also shot at tower by the plane from nearby. Another doubt expressed is how come the debris of the tower turned into ashes just by being hit by a plane? After 7 hours of attack on the twin towers, the WTC tower no.7, a 47-storey building suddenly collapsed and turned into ash. What was the mystery behind this incident?

There are hundreds of such reasons, which can compel anybody to believe that it was a conspiracy. Similarly, another serious accusation on Bush administration is that the remains, particularly steel of WTC, was sent out of the US even before the investigation was complete. Why? Another question is why the National Transport Safety Board (NTSB) didn’t investigate the hijacking of planes, when it was mandatory under the American law? What could have been the secret agenda of Bush administration behind this laxity? In the same way, some people are describing attack on Pentagon as Missile attack while some claim it was a “fake” plane crash.

Claiming 9/11 to be the world’s biggest terrorist attack, George Bush on one hand attacked Afghanistan and planned to invade Iraq, on the other hand both Bush and Cheney took up extraordinary measures to limit the investigation of 9/11 attacks. A secret file of an FBI official involved in 9/11 investigation, was also mysteriously disappeared. There are many such other aspects which raise doubt vis-à-vis 9/11 attacks. President Ahmedinejad has said that the objective of Bush administration behind 9/11 was to manage the deteriorating economy of America and strengthening its hold on Middle-East by way of protecting and helping Israel. This claim of Nejad can’t be considered usual. Another reason for scepticism of the world towards 9/11 is since the US has an eagle eye on every corner of the world, how it couldn’t come to know about the planning of world’s biggest terrorist attack on its soil? Here doubt is regarding whether in reality it was a terror attack or to facilitate it, the Bush administration deliberately closed its eyes? Another doubt is whether such a huge planned terror attack can be conducted by Laden from the caves of Tora Bora in Afghanistan? And if Laden has actually succeeded in his task then on what scale the credibility of the CIA, security agencies and other secret agencies of the US should be measured.
