UN Chief Urges S. Korea to Stop Discriminating against Foreigners with AIDS
United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon

United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon asked South Korean Prime Minister Kim Hwang-Sik an angry question when the UN chief visited Seoul on the occasion of the G20 Seoul Summit, reported South Korea's largest circulation daily
Chosun Ilbo.

At a meeting with Kim at Kim's office on Nov. 10, 2010, Ban expressed his extreme worry about abuses of the human rights of the foreign residents with HIV or AIDS in Seoul Korea, according to Chosun.

"Discriminations against foreigners with HIV or AIDS
is shameful," Ban reportedly told Kim.

Among the G20 countries only four nations, Australia, India, Saudi Arabia, and South Korea, are conducting AIDS test on foreigners, Ban said during his 120-minute luncheon meeting with Kim.

"Isn't it shameful that South Korea, as G20 presidency, still conducts AIDS test on foreigners?" Ban told Kim.

The UN's highest official asked Kim to completely
repeal the "discriminatory practice."
