Canadian Embassy in Seoul Holds 1st Canada Investment and Innovation Forum
40 S. Korean Firms to Attend Forum at Four Seasons
Canadian Ambassador to S. Korea Eric Walsh

The Canadian Embassy in Seoul will host the first "Canada Investment and Innovation Forum" in collaboration with the Consider Canada CITY Alliance (CCCA) at Four Seasons Hotel in Gwanghwamun, downtown Seoul, on April 21, 2016.

This is the first official forum to be organized by the Canadian Embassy in South Korea and the Consider Canada City Alliance Inc. (CCCA), where 11 cities of Canada formed an alliance for economic development.

The CCCA was launched in 2007 in order to attract direct foreign investment, and promote Canada as a premiere destination for doing business.

The CCCA delegation is comprised of senior executives from economic development agencies representing some of Canada’s largest cities, such as: Vancouver, Winnipeg, Saskatoon, Toronto, Waterloo, Ottawa, London, Montreal, Montreal Quebec City, Halifax, among others.

The forum consists of two parts including a seminar and an investment matchmaking session. The seminar features keynotes on Canada’s strong economic fundamentals, the advantages of doing research and development in Canada, the innovation ecosystem, testimonials from Korean companies, followed by a panel discussion.

The forum will commence with the keynote address by Jean-François Perrault, Senior Vice President and Chief Economist of Scotiabank, one of the most influential banks in Canada. Carl Viel, Chairperson of the CCCA, Natan Aronshtam, Global Managing Director of Research & Development and Government Incentives, Deloitte, and Paul Salvini, Chief Executive Officer of Accelerator Centre make presentations at the seminar as champion speakers. H.E. Eric Walsh, ambassador of Canada, give opening remarks to welcome the delegation and Korean participants.

In the afternoon, an investment matchmaking session is organized for Korean companies. The session comprises series of one-on-one business-to-business meetings at which members of the CCCA delegation will discuss investment projects with potential Korean investors.

Representatives from 40 major South Korean companies attend the forum in order to explore the direct investment feasibility and examine business profitability in Canada.
