"All S. Koreans Calling for Park's Step Down"
Thousands of Lawyers Join Anti-Park Demonstration
Park Geun-Hye
This time the protesters were attorneys at law. Thousands of South Korean lawyers took to the streets to demand that Park Geun-Hye step down from power.

A total of 3,288 nation's lawyers held an emergency meeting in Seoul from across the nation on Nov. 11, 2016, calling for the staggering President Park to step down from power.

At the gathering they excoriated Park for her messing with the national politics by allowing her confidant Choi Sun-Sil to abuse presidential power in so-called "Choi Sun-Sil Gate," which is shocking the entire people.

"All the power belong to the people and the power comes from the people," the lawyers declared in a statement.

"Choi Sun-Sil Gate" is showing the ugly face of Park's regime, " the statement said. "Choi and a handful of Park's inner circle figures privatized and abused the presidential power."

"Choi's case is just a tip of the iceberg," the statement went on. "A through and strict investigation should be conducted on those who were involved in Choi Sun-Sil Gate."

"We are demanding for the resignation of President Park," the statement said.

So far, South Koreans nearly from all walks of life and from all age groups have been joining the ever-growing anti-Park demonstration in the past two weeks or so.

Up until now some 90 universities across the nation have joined the anti-Park protests and the number will soon reach over 100, staging candle light vigil protests.

Thousands of nation's university professors also took part in the demonstrations, condemning the abuse of power and the breaches of nation's Constitution in the statements. They delivered their petition to the Blue House.

The professors urged Park to immediately step down, calling her inept and immoral. The anti-Park demonstration has spread to the small cities all across the country and event to a large cities across the globe.

Korean residents in over overseas 30 cities including Washington DC, New York City, London, and Berlin either held anti-Park protests or will host demonstrations to demand for the withdrawal of Park from the presidency.

Thousands of middle and high school students have already participated in some forms of anti-Park demonstrations so far.
