Germany Invites 6 Korean Artists
Under "Korea Year 2005" Program
Ambassador to Seoul Michael Geier of Germany

The German Embassy will invite six selected members of the Korean artists and writers to Germany for a stay of several months this year, Mr. Doe Phil-Young, embassy's public relations officer, announced in the press release June 8, 2005.

The invited guests will live and work in artists' residences in different German cities. In those cities the invited artists will have the opportunity for exchanges with German artists and the ones from other countries.

Costs of travel, accommodations and other expenses will be met by the German side. Through this invitation program the German Embassy intends to make a contribution to the "Korea Year 2005" in Germany, which shall promote the exchanges in various fields between South Korean and Germany.

Ambassador Michael Geier will hand over the scholarship certificates to Ms. Kim Heryun, painter, Ms Moon Hye-jung, painter, and Ms Jon Kyonrin, writer, in a special ceremony slated for June 10, 2005. The ceremony will start at 11:30 a.m. at the German Embassy in Seoul.

They will live and work in the artists' village Schoppingen near Munster. Mr. Choi Du-su, installation artist, has already left for Germany in April and is currently living in the Artists'residence Worpswede near Bremen.
