By Their Talents in "The Parade of Nations 2006" Event
Wives of a group of top foreign envoys sing "Arirang."

A group of top foreign envoys and their wives serving in Seoul planted love and trust in the minds of South Korean people by an unusual way – sing and dancing, captivating the minds and hearts of the locals by their artistic talents.

It was a moment of harmony made by a select group of wives of foreign ambassador and their spouses in In a diplomatic community charity event entitled "The Parade of Nations 2006" and Ambassadors' Dinner & Concert held at 6:30 p.m. on May 23, 2006 at Grand Hyatt Hotel.

Unlike the previous charity events, this year the ambassadors from 52 nations took part in the concert, displaying their talents in music and musical instruments.

The participating countries include USA, France, China, Germany, EU, Spain, Portugal, India, El Salvador, Lebanon, South Africa, Tunisia, New Zealand, Qatar, and Russia.

The gala event was a great opportunity to taste and enjoy music and dance from every part of the world. There was also a performance from South Korea's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

"The 2nd Parade of Nations" was an evening of music and dance accompanied by dinner, and it truly represented the special and traditional aspects of dance and music from the 52 countries around the world.

Mrs. Yolanda de Ungo, spouse of Ambassador of El Salvador to Seoul Alfredo Francisco Ungo, welcomed all the guests as the chief organizer of the event. Ungo now serves as dean of diplomatic corps.

The event was emceed by South Korean TV actor Lee Seo-Jin and a local TV announcer Son Jung-Min. Famous local vocalist In Sooni captivated about 700 local and foreign audience gathered at the hotel.

The main participants of this event were foreign ambassadors and their wives, who entertained the audience with their professional performance.

As the "Grand Finale," all the participating ambassadors and their spouses went on stage to sing the popular traditional Korean song of "Arirang," wearing their beautiful national and traditional costumes. This was the highlight of this gala evening.

The whole event will be aired by a local fashion channel Dong-Ah TV on May 31, 2006. The channel is the co-organizer of this event.
The proceeds of the ticket sales will be donated to the Infants Cancer Society, 100 Won-a-Day Association chaired by Mrs. Ban Ki-moon and Planting Love Association.

Mrs. Yolanda de Ungo, spouse of Ambassador of El Salvador to Seoul Alfredo Francisco Ungo, welcomed all the guests as the chief organizer of the event. Amb. Ungo now serves as dean of diplomatic corps.

In the welcoming speech Mrs. Ungo thanked Mrs. Yoo Soon-Taek, wife of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Ban Ki-Moon, for attending and supporting this evening and for her activities in foreign diplomatic community in Seoul.

In a congratulatory remark Mrs. Yoo congratulated all the organizers and contributors including Dong-Ah TV for their work for this charity.

Mrs. Yoo said that she hoped that the Diplomatic Corps would continue to organize such wonderful programs to introduce unique cultures and traditions to Korea and promote deeper friendship and cooperation between our nations.
