The Foes of Humanity: Extreme Thoughts
By Tanveer Jafri
Contributing Writer
Gen. Parvez Musharraf, president of Pakistan

The world, at present, is frightened & harassed at the people having extremist & unholy thoughts. It may be a worldwide spread of missionary propaganda from America & its skilful plans in favour of its. Or its Islam which associated, sometimes, with the controversial words as the Al Qaeda or the Taliban, or the Jehad or the Fatwas or the so called social & national organisation, Rashtriya Swayam Sewak Sangh which is active in India or 'Gush Amyuniyam' in Israel & many more such organisations that seem to be idealist, Godly & followers of truth, having faith in God but all these seem to be a prey of misunderstanding. But, at present, the world is badly frightened by their spreading of hateful thoughts. The thoughts that are full of extreme feelings & hatred have given so much ill effects that many countries are on the verge of war or civil war & their developments are badly affected. Its consequences have come as inflation, unemployment, starvation, anarchy & illiteracy. These extreme thoughts have compelled not only the common people but also the head of the states of many countries to be serious on the widespread of these extreme thoughts.

In the last days, the president of Pakistan, General Parvez Musharraf, while addressing on the occasion of the centenary foundation of Muslim League, in a programme organised in the capital Islamabad, strongly criticized the Islamic extremists active in Pakistan & gave a call against these powers. Spotting the organisation Jamaat-E-Islami, he openly expressed the words that this organisation woks to insult the Islam & the people associated with it are religion professional. It is not the first time that Musharraf expressed his words against the extremists. Even before it, many a time he has expressed the similar views about these extremists who misguide the people with their statements. O.I.C., which is the biggest organisation in the world of the Muslim community having second largest population in the world, has also felt the increasing spots of terrorism on the Islam. This organisation has asked the Muslim countries to propagate the liberal form of the Islam & to do constructive work to act upon the liberal form of the Islam. The modernisation programme of the Madarsas on international level is an important step towards this direction.

Last days, Tony Blair the Prime Minister of England visited Pakistan. Britain is going to provide financial assistance of $910 million to Pakistan to reduce poverty, reform of madarsas and improve the health and sanitation services and clean water there. Obviously this is not being done only to educate or to make them self earning or self dependent, but to save them from the bad effect of extreme thoughts and to secure humanity from harm of the extreme thoughts.

Undoubtedly the extremist in many religion and countries have succeeded in their nefarious activities but now are failing in their aim. For example in the fresh elections of the local council polls Iran President Mehmood Ahmadinejad suffered an embarrassing blow in local council races. This voting viewed as a sign of public discontent with his hard-line stance. Former President Hashmi Rafsanjani, a relative moderate, polled the most votes of any Tehran candidate to win re-election to a key assembly post. Similarly in a Muslim country Abu Dhabi, where there it is compulsory for the Muslim women to veil, a Muslim women councillor has won first time in its history. Dr. Amal Abdullah Jumma Karam-Al- Qubaisi is first woman councillor, who has been declared successful in the election of Federal National Council of Abu Dhabi. Dr. Amal is a Muslim woman that has firm belief in the God & describes his victory, a blessing of God. But the fundamental Islam which is being proved as a true Islam, that Islam doesn't allow a woman to remain unveiled. According to that thinking, is Dr. Amal not a Muslim or her work is Non-Muslim?

I, in one of my previous articles wrote about some Muslim women as Benazir Bhutto, Begam Khalida Ziya, Sheikh Hasina Wajid & Sania Mirza & for them their work & their responsibilities are more important than the hard-lined Islamic teachings. That's why they are unable to make that veil, a part of their lives. Whereas the so called fundamental custodians of the Islam consider it compulsory giving note on this article, a reader reacted that the names discussed as role models for the Islami women are in fact not their role models. Now the question is, according to these extremists, who is the role model of the Muslim women in this era?

A few days ago, a girl named Anusheh Ansari, of the Shia sect, from a hard-lined Islamic country, Iran, got an exalted position by being the first woman astronaut in the world. This woman will not be known in the history only as a first Muslim woman astronaut of the Irani origin. Anusheh is well versed in French & Russian languages along with English & Persian. At present, in the age of international nuclear politics when Iran & America are at daggers drawn, can it be considered by America to send a girl of Iran, a hard-lined Muslim country, in space through space mission? It is a matter of pride that on Irani girl went on a space flight through space tourist mission organised by America. The dress she was putting on at that time bore the signs of American & Irani flags. I have no doubt to say that this woman or like Shirin Ibadi, who got Noble Prize, can bring credit to the Islam. Old orthodox education or thought can't do it.

In all countries, it should be accepted by all that the spread & propaganda of extreme thoughts is only an excuse for the bread & butter of some cheats which they want to earn on the name of religion. If we are to advance in any field out of politics, sports, education, science, technology, space or commerce etc. & we want to try for constructive progress in society, country, and world or for welfare of humanity, we shall have to free ourselves from the bonds of conservative & extreme thoughts. Not only this, we shall have to firmly oppose & stand against the people who thrust upon us the Anti-Humanity thoughts. We shall have to accept that the people, who in the guise of priests, give sugar coated pills against humanity in the name of religion, with the lessons of religions are the real & the greatest foes of humanity.
