An Open Letter to America on Patriotism
By Thomas Emmon Pisano
US Correspondent
American patriotism

Maybe you have heard me speak of patriotism in the past, and maybe you have not, but this is not my first essay on this subject. It seems as though I am always harping on the American way and the gift we have here in this great country of ours.

We love America, no matter what her shortcomings may be, America will always heal itself and bring itself around, it is just that kind of system under which we live.

History has taught us that this country of ours will take its problems, change them to golden threads, and make the best of any bad or less than perfect situation, always has, and always will. Our founding fathers built a marvelous self-repairing organism here into the fabric of our country's laws, the ability to right the wrongs and produce strength from weakness.

Why do you think the whole world wants to come here to live? Why does the world of tyrants hate us so? Do you think that it is because we have a minimum wage or that we all drive cars? Perhaps it is because every one has their own church on every corner. No, it is none of those reasons and also all of those reasons; it is because we have the answers to our own social, economical, and legal problems. We have learned to live in harmony and brotherhood, not perfectly, but still... We have laws, which work, and we have a society, which understands and advocates freedom for everyone. Moreover, the reason that this all works and has worked from day one is because of patriotism.

Patriotism comes in a thousand different and mighty forms; the firefighter and the paramedic, the police officer and the soldier, all of these dedicated men and women who do their jobs every day these are all patriots. When you go to the polls and vote you are a patriot and when you take you children to school and insist that they get a good education, you are furthering the cause of democracy and freedom. We as American citizens in a million different ways are all patriots and we should hold that fact to and near our hearts, least we loose the best place to live here on this earth. Don't take America for granted not for an instant, our enemies are hoping we will become complacent and lackadaisical and will forget what makes us great. Our enemies want us to grumble amongst ourselves to hate racially and to fall down on dope and alcohol; they want us to be stupid. That is what the enemies of freedom want; they want a stupid and drugged America. Don't give them the satisfaction and don't give them the opportunity to seize America from under us in any way.

AMERICA stay diligent, AMERICA stay alert and keep your heads clear and your hearts burning with the cause of freedom. Don't squander anything, which is your birthright don't squander AMERICA!
