Feel The Rhythm of The EU
Schael Sick Brass Band

On the March 27, 2007 culinary specialities and music from Europe by the "Schael Sick Brass Band" will be presented at Ssamziegil (Tel: 736-008 8) in Insadong. The food stalls are open from 2 p.m., the concert starts at 6 p.m.

"Schael Sick Brass Band" is a multicultural band consisting of nine members coming from different countries such as Poland, Sweden and Germany. The name of the group means the "wrong side" of Cologne, which refers to the shore of the Rhine River of Cologne without the famous cathedral, withouth great shopping malls, but with the charme of authentic working-clas s areas. There the combo was founded 15 years ago by the guitarist Raimund Kroboth.

Meanwhile "Schael Sick" has developed into Germany's funkiest folk-punk band with Anna Lindblom (vocals), Udo Moll (trumpet), Annette Maye (clarinet), Matti Muche (trombone), Joachim Gellert (tuba), Mirek Pyschny (drums), Fethi Ak (percussions) and Christoph Stoll (technics).

Different origins and backgrounds of the band members in addition to various guest concerts all over the world have resulted in a diverse multicultural musical repertoire. Their new album "Prasti Music" presents a potpourri of rhythms and tones from mainly European countries such as Bulgaria, Greece and Albania seasoned with an extra portion of jazz and a Nordic scent by Swedish-born singer Anna Lindblom on the top. For the special event in Seoul, "Schael Sick" will also include songs from Italy, Great Britain and other Member States of the European Union.

The EU Party at Ssamziegil is the closing event of the celebrating activities on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the foundation of the European Union organized by the German Embassy and the Goethe-Institut Seoul. Since Germany has assumed the Presidency of the European Council at the beginning of this year, many other events are planned by both entities for this special period.
