Czech Press Photo Exhibition in Seoul on April 3
Wrold Through Lens of Central European Reporters
Czech Press Photo Exhibition in Seoul

An exhibition of award winning photographs from the prestigious Czech Press Photo competition will open on April 3, 2007 at 3:00 PM at the Dong-A Media Center in Central Seoul. The exhibition is jointly organized by the Embassy of the Czech Republic and Presseum of Dong-A Ilbo and will run until April 29, 2007.

The exhibition subtitled World through the lens of Central-European reporters consists of sixty photographs depicting particular topics of the years 2004-5. They are, among others, tsunami and other natural disasters, the "Orange Revolution" in Ukraine, everyday life and festivities in the Czech Republic, sports events, artists and politicians. A series of photos taken in the streets of Pyongyang has won a prize for the "Everyday Life" category. All photographs have been selected by an international jury from among 3056 works by 232 participating photojournalists.

The event takes place in Presseum — Newspaper Museum located in the Dong-A Media Center that documents the history of Korean press. For this occasion, a collection of major Czech dailies and an outline of Czech media are on display.

Czech Press Photo is an annual competition of photojournalists resident in the Czech Republic and Slovakia which has been organized since 1995. The primary purpose of the competition with a subsequent exhibition is to motivate photographers to use more personal approach in their everyday work and to stimulate the development of photography as a highly important medium of communication. It also allows the public to become a witness to the events that took place in the past year.

For more information in Korean please check www.presseum.co.kr or www.mzv.cz/seoul, in English www.czechpressphoto.cz.
