3rd Italy-Korea S&T Forum in Seoul
Opened By Italian Prime Minister Romano Prodi
Italian Prime Minister Romano Prodi

Forty Italian and Korean scientists, representing the excellence in science and technology of both countries, will gather for the "3rd Italy-Korea S&T Forum" which will be held at the Westin Chosun Hotel in Seoul, adjacent to City Hall, on April 19 and April 20, 2007. The opening session will be on April 19 by 10 a.m.

The Italy-Korea S&T Forum will be organized for the third time since 2003 and for the second time in Seoul. The forum is one of the most important events in the bilateral cooperation between Italy and Korea and is organized by MOST (Korean Ministry of S&T) and KICOS (Korea Foundation for International Cooperation of Science & Technology), together with Italian embassy in Seoul.

The forum course coincides with the official visit to Korea of Italian Prime Minister H.E. Romano Prodi who will open the meeting and address the forum, together with the Deputy Prime Minister and MOST Minister H.E. Kim Woo-sik, the President of KICOS Dr. Cheon Il Eom and the Ambassador of Italy H.E. Massimo Andrea Leggeri.

This year's event will include four sessions on a two-days program: the first day with topics devoted to physics and the second day to chemistry. The forum will highlight the latest research findings and technical innovations with reference to four main specific themes: astrophysics, aerospace, membranes technologies, chemistry in biotechnology and environment.

The 3rd Italy-Korea Forum, having from both sides a frame of scientific-technical excellences, is intended to give an overview of the current status of research in selected and relevant topics, but also to increase the existing bilateral links, as well as to stimulate further ones, creating future stronger S&T cooperation between Italy and Korea.
