Mr. Choi Soo-Myung, preparatory committee chairman of the Korea-Czech Friendship Association

The Korea-Czech Friendship Association is being established in Seoul as a civic organization aiming at developing and supporting contacts between people and institutions from the Republic of Korea and the Czech Republic in a wide range of areas including culture, education, tourism, science and technology, trade and investment. An inaugural meeting will take place on Wednesday, 25th April 2007.

The Association is founded by Korean citizens who have been pursuing cooperation with Czech subjects and have been active in promoting Korean-Czech interaction in various areas. A similar organization, Czech Korean Society has been working in the Czech Republic since 1990. Professors and students of various subjects including music and Czech studies, representatives of Korean companies, tourism professionals, businessmen, and a number of other Korean friends of the Czech Republic, its culture and arts are expected to participate at the launching ceremony and join the Association.

The Embassy of the Czech Republic warmly welcomes the establishment of the Association, considering it an important sign of the strengthening of mutual relations. This encouraging development reflects the growing interest in various aspects of the Czech culture, economy, history and language among people in South Korea, a trend the Embassy will always support and promote.
