Obscure Attacks on Iraq Mosques
By Tanveer Jafri
Contributing Writer
"Al-Askari mosque"

In spite of the claims of improvement by the American Army, the condition in Iraq seems going from bad to worse, day by day. The attacks at the crowded places or holy cities or the attacks on the foreign armies present in Iraq, are finding no place to reach an end. The most serious matter in this issue is attacks on the religious places in Iraq. These are the blasts which can throw Iraq in the ditch of civil war. The graph of such blasts is rising high day by day.

Undoubtedly such circumstances are not only detrimental for the general public of Iraq but are throwing a challenge before American President George Bush also. Here, an interesting thing to note about the attacks on the mosques and tombs is that even the Iraqi people are unable to reach a conclusion about the powers that are at the root of the ruinous secret designs striking at their faiths. Whenever there is an attack on a famous historical temple or a bomb blast under a planned conspiracy then every person who is linked with the politics of Iraq, starts to define the attacks or blasts, in his own way. If the blast is on a Shia place, the American Army present in Iraq immediately puts the blame of these attacks on Al Qaeda or other Sunni groups. On the other hand the present ruling government in Iraq usually seconds the statement. And the Shia organization in Iraq, a neighbour country Iran, the Shia leader Muqtda-Al-Sadr & the Shia leader of Lebanon, Hasan Nasrullah etc. all these hold America directly responsible for all such incidents. There have been some attacks on the main Shia temples in Iraq for which the blame was put on Al Qaida or Sunni revolt groups but the organizations blamed denied having hand in such attacks. Now the question is who are the hidden powers active in inciting the conditions leading to a civil war & creating a gulf of enmity between the Shia & the Sunni communities.

A famous 'Al-Askari mosque' is in a city Samara which is situated at the distance of about 100 km in north-west of the Iraqi Capital Baghdad. It is a joint edifice for the Sixth Imam of the Shia community Hazrat Ali Naqi & the Eleventh Imam Hazrat Hasan Askari. It is considered a religious place of deep faith for all the people of the Shia community in the world. But this place is mostly inhabited by the Sunnies & the city Samara is also heavily populated by the Sunnies. But in spite of all this, the religious place had never been attacked before February 22, 2006 & there had not been a big explosion before that. But a blast at 6.55am on February 22, 2006 in the holy Al Askari Masque moved the Shia community of the world. The big gold decorated dome was blasted by a big bomb explosion.

The American Army & the Iraqi administration blamed Sunni terrorist groups for this incident of February 22, 2006. But if the statements of the people living in that area & other witnesses are accepted, then this incident seems to be the result of a horrible conspiracy that may lead to a civil war in Iraq & a division of Iraq. The eye witnesses of the incident state that before this incident, there was a curfew in the Samara City. Just after 8pm on February 21, 2006, the American armed army & its tanks surrounded the holy place, all of a sudden. According to the eye witnesses, nobody had seen the armed soldiers, in such a large number around the holy place before. The American Army & its ally the Iraqi army kept the holy place under its control for all the night. This doubtful condition remained for ten hours that is on February 22, it went on from 8pm to 6am. On February 22, at 6am, this army that was being led by the Americans left the control of Al Askari Masjid & handed it over to its guards as before. A few minutes after this incident at 6.55, there was such as big explosion at that holy place, which damaged the great gold decorated main dome of the Al Askari Masjid.

The above circumstances may hint any way but the American army at once put the blame of the incident to terrorist groups of Iraq. Again on June 13, 2007, at 9 am, the two high minarets of this holy place were destroyed. Again Al Qaida is being blamed for the incidents. Undoubtedly the Al Qaida is a dangerous organization of the terrorists that causes a great loss of life & property by its terrorist activities. And in this way it spreads its terrorist thoughts too. As far as the presence of the Al Qaida in Iraq is concerned, naturally their interest may lie in the fact that the rule of Iraq may not slip form the hands of Sunni Arabs to the Iraqi Shia community. There had been no hard proof of the fact that the former Iraqi dictator Saddam Husain had some links with the Al Qaida. Truly enough, that by the efforts of Bush administration, that too, after the attack of September 11, back of the Al Qaida has broken. The reality can be judged if the Al Qaida is responsible for the attacks on the sensitive holy place in Iraq or not. If the Al Qaida is responsible for all these incidents, then how far can the American Army escape its responsibilities? A place that is being under the watch of the most modern army of the world & there is a blast by the so said, the Al Qaida. Two alternatives can be considered. One is that the American Army is unable & inefficient to stop such attacks. If it is so, it has no right to take control of the law & order situation in Iraq. It should not try to become the so said guardian. The second thought is the blame of the Shia leaders as well as the Sunni leaders & organizations in Iraq that such incidents are result of a far sighted American conspiracy & nothing else.

It is unfortunate that after such happenings on the holy places, the groupism erupts. As a result of it thousands of innocent people are killed. Hundreds of Masjids of the Shiites & the Sunnies are damaged. In such circumstances, America gets a chance to show the world that circumstances don't allow America to leave the place earlier. Now who is at the back of those attacks on the holy places? This unanswerable question stands as it was. And the present self styled guardian of Iraq again starts to plan new excuses, causes & conspiracies. So a poet has rightly said:-

Do not beat about the Bush; Tell why was there Caravan's booty, I am not concerned with the looters; But with the guard's duty.
