Benazir's Martyrdom — A Memorable Sacrifice
By Tanveer Jafri Contributing Writer
 | Benazir Bhutto | The president of the Pakistan People's Party, the former prime minister of Pakistan, Benazir Bhutto is not among us. Terrorists in the name of Islam, the custodians of terrorism had given a warning & acting upon their warning have assassinated Begum Bhutto, who was struggling for the implementation of Democracy in Pakistan. They did it on December 27, 2007 by a suicide attack in a big city, of Pakistan, Rawalpindi. On the return of Benazir Bhutto to Pakistan, the hardcore extremists have warned her that she wouldn't be spared if she returns to Pakistan. After the death of Begum Bhutto, according to preliminary information's the main Islamic terrorist's organizations that have been named as responsible for it are Al Qaeda, mainly its second chief Aiman-al Jawahari & the active hardcore activists organization in Pakistan, Lashkar-e-Jhangvi. But the opponents of the President Parvez Musharraf are losing no chance to play politics over the assassination of Benazir. A group is holding Musharraf responsible for the carelessness in the security of Benazir. Some people are holding Musharraf directly responsible for this accident. Some are of the view that ISI, a Pakistan's intelligence agency is responsible for this killing. The persons, who accuse Pak government for it, say that the assassination of Benazir may be a conspiracy. Keeping this doubt in view, now there is a strong demand for getting the enquiry of this case from the international agencies & not from the local ones. Misfortunately nothing can be set aside in the politics of Pakistan. So this can't be ignored that the assassination of Benazir is a part of any internal conspiracy. But, with this accusation, there arises a question if there is any gain to Musharraf because of this conspiracy. How was Benazir Bhutto proving a hurdle in the way of President Musharraf that Musharraf or Pakistan army felt a need to do the conspiracy against her? Rightly, the demand of the present misfortunate politics is to aim at one & to fire at the second one. So to express such doubts & to accuse in such a way is not any way special. Some incidents happen about the events that supply oxygen to the ifs & if nots. For example who is responsible for the lack of security of Benazir? Who is responsible for not being careful & for carelessness? Just after the accident, the fire brigade vehicles showered heavy water & cleaned the spot of incidence. It is being doubted that it is an attempt to wipe out the proofs from the place of accident. The first news after the accidents were that the death was because of bullets that hit chest & neck. The number of bullets used was told up to five. After 30 hours the authoritative sources in Pakistan declared that the death wasn't because of the bullets but it was because of a wound in head. It means that the bullets didn't touch her. The corpse was buried without the postmortem. The reason for this is being told that Asif Ali Zardari, husband of Benazir had requested to not to do postmortem of the dead body of the Begum so the government officials didn't send the dead body for the postmortem. Some reports say that a high profile police officer of Islamabad is responsible for it. This incident is also being doubted. It is being said that there is also a conspiracy to wipe out the proofs behind it. But in spite of all the accusations & doubts, it is all clear that Benazir Bhutto has been murdered by the terrorists who spread the Talibani thoughts & they have done so after giving a warning. It has the greatest proof that Benazir was attacked on the day when she came to Pakistan after 8 years. Undoubtedly Benazir had a narrow escape in this attack but 135 persons lost their lives in this attack. This huge death toll can make one to imagine the horribleness & the courage of the terrorists. Undoubtedly Begum Bhutto demanded the increase in her security after this attack. She or any other leader of her party or any other person or opponent of Musharraf didn't talk about any conspiracy because of this attack. Nobody held responsible to Pak army or government for it. Then why Musharraf is being taken as a part of conspiracy for the murder of Benazir? Certainly Musharraf is facing a big calamities time. It is being said that the condition in Pakistan is even worse than Iraq & Afghanistan. At such a time it is 'good' time for the opponents of Musharraf to encompass him. But one thing is to be taken into consideration that people who are telling Musharraf or his government or Pakistan army as a part of conspiracy are themselves not at the root of the conspiracy. Is it not an attempt to divert the attention from the increasing courage of the terrorists? Is there not a try to prove that Begum hasn't become a victim of the hardcore talibani terrorists? In fact from the Red Mosque to the assassination of Begum Bhutto, there is only one face of the terror, & that is terrorism being spread on the name of Islam. This can be called an unholy & inhuman mission for the people who are doing Talibanism of Islam. Undoubtedly Musharraf had encouraged this terrorism against India. Even today he himself or any leader of Pakistan doesn't take a back step to support or to give moral help to the active terrorists of the Kashmir mission. It is a matter of sorrow that Benazir herself has favoured the terrorists on the Kashmir issue & had never opposed them. But now this demon of terrorism, nurtured by the Pakistan rulers has come out of its hide & is making the Pakistani air poisonous. It is also true that Musharraf has gird up his loin as the enemy number one of the terrorists. Benazir Bhutto was also very well aware of the discredit being faced by the Pakistan in the world because of the spread of terrorism in Pakistan. Her attitude was also completely against the terrorism. In her meetings, she had also started directly aiming at the Madarsas of the fundamentalists, which are considered the roots for the spread of terrorist thoughts. In fact, Benazir may have been very popular in the world but the extremists in Muslims don't want to see a woman without veil. They hesitated to accept Begum Bhutto as the Prime Minister of Pakistan. These powers had even put a resolution in the Parliament of Pakistan in which it was said that a Muslim woman shouldn't be accepted as the Prime Minister of the country. At that time the majority of the liberals had badly defeated that resolution. After that the popularity of Benazir went on increasing among the common Pakistani people. Even people began to call her, 'The Destiny of Pakistan.' The present political conditions of Pakistan are hinting the same that probably Benazir would be the next Prime Minister of Pakistan. In such conditions, how could the custodians of the religionist Islam, that believed in Talibani thoughts, could tolerate that the two main chairs of Pakistan, the president & the Prime Minister are occupied by the persons who are against that poisonous thoughts of theirs? This was the reason that made Benazir reach the point of martyrdom. In this hour of disaster, the entire world has full sympathy with Pakistan. But Pakistani people will have to struggle themselves with the poisonous terrorism that is spreading itself in the name of Islam. Only weapons can't fight it. Its remedies are to keep itself aloof from this thought, to advise others to remain away from it & to social boycott the persons who are associated with this thought. The Muslim brethren in Pakistan will have to understand that these talibanies, who made themselves the patrons of the Islam, have made Islam a synonym of terrorism. The Pakistani brethren should remember that truth is not in what the terrorists speak in their hide. But truth can't be hidden as the truth spoke in the case of Benazir. The truth that opposed the terrorism, the truth that opposed the hardcore fundamentalists. Undoubtedly the truth wasn't liked by the extremists but as there was an excellence in the sacrifice of Benazir, for the sake of truth, so it is a memorable sacrifice.
