Iraq War: Who Lost, Al-Qaeda or Iraqi People
By Tanveer Jafri
Contributing Writer
The remnants of a bomb blast in Iraq believed to have been carried out by Al-Qaeda militants.

Five years have past when the American army entered Iraq. The unverified sources claim that during this period about lacs of Iraqis have been killed in terrorist activities, combats or raids by the American army. The fresh informations reveal that by now four thousand and thirty American, too, have lost their lives. Perhaps not knowing about this information, American president Bush is feeling that the Iraq government is improving its economic condition. George bush is also hopeful that soon, Iraq will be in a position to bear the expenditure of current 'War', and its reconstruction.

Undoubtedly President Bush seems worried for the reconstruction and self dependence of Iraq. But if we have a look at the previous condition of Iraq, the people of Iraq don't look prosperous, liberal and self dependent as they were. One reason for it is that Iraq had to face sanctions imposed by the united nations for about twelve years, even before the American attack. Secondly, as it was a misfortune for the people of Iraq, they had to bear a dictator like Saddam Hussein, who was wicked, cruel and encouraged casteism. Undoubtedly the intelligent rulers of America made use of it. Usually they seek a chance where there are dictators ruling the country. If that dictator is useful for the American interests however the cruel he may be, America ignores it. America doesn't care the excesses he does to its people but if that dictator sees eye to eye America, however food and satisfying to his people he may be, America considers him a cruel dictator. He is considered so cruel and wicked that America does not want to see him as a ruler. America tries to overthrow him by all means. America takes the help of everything so that, that dictator may be put behind the bars and hanged as soon as possible.

This thought of the American rulers was seen being experimented in Iraq. Today George Bush is proudly praising the American army deployed in Iraq. He says that they got success in Iraq only because of them. Bush also says that Al-Qaeda has crumbled. Can Mr. Bush tell that the number of shelter places and leaders in Al- Qaeda before he made attack on Iraq, were targeted? Or the attack was only having a single base and that was Saddam Husain has stored chemical and bio weapons for the destruction of humanity? The strongest army of the world could not find the store of the chemical and bio- weapons in the last five years. It could not even arrest the Al- Qaeda chief Osama-Bin-Laden and Aiman-Al- Jawahiri. But undoubtedly America has succeeded in its secret mission that was in its mind before attacking Iraq. And that secret and undeclared aim was to hang Saddam Husain and to have control over the Iraq oil wealth. It is told that-Iraq has 25%of the total oil wealth of the world.

Now the common thinking among the people of Iraq may be from Shia or Sunni community nobody wants to see the American army in Iraq. Last days, the Mehdi Army of Shia leader Muqtada-Al- Sadr, created a war like situation against the American army and the present government of Iraq. Hundreds of persons died in it. The Mehdi Army is of the single opinion that the American army must leave Iraq at once. On the other hand, such situation is also in America for about last five years. Leaving aside the supporter politicians of Bush, all the impartial & liberal persons in America, have been opposing the sending of troops in Iraq. The return of the American soldiers from Iraq is an important issue in the coming presidential elections in America. There may have been many more Iraqi casualties because of the American interference in Iraq the Americans are considering the death of four thousand American soldiers in Iraq as a serious matter.

This pressure of the American public has made President Bush to accept the curtailment of the American soldiers in Iraq. Bush has declared that due to the successes achieved in Iraq, America will cut short the presence of the American soldiers there up to 25%. This cut will be done by July 31, 2008. After this cut, a survey will be made to evaluate that the conditions in Iraq allow more curtailment or not. George Bush has also announced that in future the deployment of the American soldiers in Iraq will be for twelve months instead of fifteen months. One another attractive offer was made for the American soldiers that after their one term of 12months in Iraq, they will remain for one year only in America

Now, the world or the world leaders may visualize the Iraq scene any way but President Bush is of the view that they have got a great economic and political success in Iraq. The measuring rod for this success is known to George bush because he was the person who got the secret information of chemical and bio-weapons being accumulated in Iraq. But the world is seeing Osama-Bin-Laden and Aiman-Al-Jawahiri cursing the American interests regularly. The Iraq people that boasted of their oil wealth are facing starvation, hunger, anarchy and bad condition. The country that was famous as a powerful Iraq among a few Muslim nations has crumbled today. But among all these, President Bush is happy and feeling proud on his success that stood on the bloody destruction of the Iraqi people.
