Consequences of Bush Policy
By Tanveer Jafri
Contributing Writer
Demostaration in Sydney against Israel's terror attack on Palestine

Many persons who occupied the President chair in USA have been respected not only by the people of America but by the people of the world also. But the policy played by the outgoing president George Bush II can't be forgotten. The negative, destructive, biased & double game policies are being criticised by all the people of the world. Not only has this, because of these policies of Bush, America had to bear the criticism from the world. If some steps are taken by the terrorists or terror groups, people of the world have to bear it because these inhuman actions are those of the terrorists. But when the most powerful ruler in the world takes the steps that hurts humanity & is biased with double game, how that can be tolerated? Although Bush will remain the President till January 20 but even after his farewell, the people of the world will not forget that this is the President whose demand as a culprit of war has been done by so many human rights organisations & by the people who had won awards at the international level. These policies have resulted that a journalist in Iraq was overpowered by his hateful ideas & threw the shoes over Bush.

Anyhow, before his departure, the double standard policies of George Bush are showing its ill-effects. After the attack of November 26 on India, it was clear that America is openly in favour of India & putting pressure on Pakistan to arrest the persons responsible for Mumbai attacks & to handover them to India. Regarding it, many high officials of America visited India & Pakistan too. But just after one month of the incident, a surprising statement from Bush came out that has encouraged the terrorists taking asylum in Pakistan. It has also shocked the attempts of making constant pressure of India on Pakistan. Last days George Bush has asked government of Pakistan to arrest the persons responsible for Mumbai attacks & to try them in Pakistan courts. As there is no extradition treaty between India & Pakistan, Pak has made it a base of its excuse. Obviously Pakistan has got a relief because of it. Perhaps that's why Pakistan is saying again & again that it is efficient to counter act in every way. Pakistan has also started movement of the army towards the border.

President Bush who was moved by the 9/11 attack on America & had declared war against terrorism is now not so active. He is not being affected by the continuous terrorist strikes on India. It seems that President Bush is the only man who has power to decide whether a country is affected by the terror or not. He is the person who has power to decide about the action to be taken by the affected country. It is being said that Bush administration is well wisher of Pakistan. Even it is being assumed that in the South Asia, Pakistan is the only sympathiser of America. But the time that has witnessed the fast growing friendship between America & Pakistan has also witnessed the growing of deep roots of terrorism in Pakistan & the increase in number of terrorist organisations & in number of training camps of the terrorists there. The internal circumstances have gone bad to worse. The world knows that terror attacks have increased in Pakistan too. Clearly, Pakistan is at a loss because of the American friendship.

These double standard policies of President Bush are also showing its bad effects in the Middle East. Israel is continuously doing air attacks on the Gaza strip of Palestine. More than 500 people have fallen prey to the Israel air strikes. Because of this attack, the people of the world are condemning Israel. But Bush administration is saying 'bravo' to Israel government. Several people have died & many government, private & religious buildings have been destroyed by these air strikes. In spite of it, the action taken by Israel against Hamas is being called fair by George Bush government. The measuring rod here is quite opposite being used in Indo-Pak. Certainly, the Arab-Israel struggle is thousands years old. But it has got more air during the regime of George Bush.

The elections in Palestine in 2006 were done in the regime of George Bush. Hamas got a great victory in these elections & it came into power. But America & Israel told Hamas a terrorist organisation & Palestine government led by Hamas wasn't recognised. Obviously UN too, didn't recognise the Palestine government by Hamas. Instead of recognition, the sanctions were put on Hamas. On the other side, on the basis of humanity, Iran began to send help to Palestine. Both America & Israel disliked the help by Iran to Hamas. After that Iran was accused of helping the so called terrorist organisation Hamas & Hamas, a terrorist organisation backed by Iran. In present circumstances, Israel, encouraged by America is bombing the Palestine citizens & now Israel Army too has entered in Gaza. So every where Israel is being criticised & there is a demand to stop the attacks. On the other hand, Bush is giving a call for a stern action against Hamas. At present too, Iran has sent two ships for helping the Palestinian citizens.

Surprisingly, the Bush administration is calling Saudi Arabia & other main Arab nations as its friends. Even Bush's father Bush I seemed to be freeing Kuwait from the paws of Iraq. At the same time, Israel that is over shadowing the Arab countries is being openly favoured by America. When America or Israel feels the direct pinch of terrorism, they come on military action at once. But if India or any other country fall victim to the terrorist activities, the Bush administration advises to keep patience or tries to find the measures that may not hurt the 'American interests.' It should be hoped that January 20 will be line for the farewell of Bush as well as of the double standard policies of Bush & there will be only one definition of terrorism, one action & one policy against terrorism & a new way against terrorism will come out. tanveerjafri1@gmail.com
