Morocco's Throne Day Marked in Seoul

Moroccan Ambassador to Seoul Mohammed Chraibi and his wife, Mrs. Amal Lahlou, hosted a reception at Lotte Hotel in Seoul on July 30, 2010 on the occasion of the 11th anniversary of its Throne Day.

Morocco's national day "Throne Day," which is celebrated on July 30, is the day of accession of King Mohamed VI to the throne in 1999.

A number of guests were invited to the dinner reception held on the second floor of the Lotte Hotel.

Among the invitees were scores of top foreign envoys and wives serving in Seoul.

From the South Korean government, Chun Yung-Woo, second vice minister of South Korea's (Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (MOFAT), was invited to deliver a congratulatory speech.

Back in Morocco, hundreds of prisoners were pardoned on the order of its King Mohammed VI on the occasion of Throne Day.

The bilateral relations between Morocco and South Korea hark back to July of 1962, when the two nations established official ties.

Since then the bilateral ties has been on the steady increase.

Presently, such major South Korean corporations as LG, Samsung, Daewoo Engineering as operating in Morocco.
